Heversham & Hincaster Neighbourhood Plan

The concept of Neighbourhood Plans was introduced by the Localism Act in 2012. They are an opportunity for local people to influence the planning decisions made by the Local Planning Authority for their area. For Heversham and Hincaster the Local Planning Authority is South Lakeland District Council (SLDC).

To prepare a Neighbourhood Plan for Heversham and Hincaster a Steering Group of residents of the villages has been meeting over the last 3 years. As part of the process of approval for a Neighbourhood Plan, there have been a number of consultations to provide opportunities for local residents to comment on progress and Drafts. A formal 6 week consultation period was open between Monday 2nd November and Sunday 13th December 2015. The feedback received was fed into the process and has enabled the assembly of the Final Plan..

Additionally the Draft Plan had to go through an Independent Examination by a nominated and qualified Examiner whose comments were also fed into the assembly process.

Heversham Parish Council and Hincaster Parish meeting have both agreed that the Final Plan should be put to a Referendum open to all eligible voters residing in the parishes of Heversham and Hincaster This will take place on Thursday 16th February 2017 at The Atheneum, Heversham.

The Assembly of the Neighbourhood Plan has included a set of stages and documents and these are available to view in the Background Documents, Annexes and Roadmap section. The Examiner's report is also included in this section.
